ENVIRO-SHIELD Bonded Fiber Matrix
USG ENVIRO-SHIELD® Bonded Fiber Matrix (BFM) reduces erosion and promotes plant growth. ENVIRO-SHIELD Bonded Fiber Matrix is applied by hydroseeding a slurry of fibers and bonding ingredients that cures to create a breathable, built-in-place protective blanket. This blanket is designed to minimize both water and wind erosion, as well as enhance germination by protecting the seed until vegetation is established. Less expensive and faster to install than rolled blankets or sod, the matrix also helps return moisture to the soil and improves the structure of clay and sand soil.
- ENVIRO-SHIELD is unique in that it is the only BFM on the market that includes gypsum thereby supplying nutrients in the form of calcium and sulfur to the soil. Gypsum acts to improve the structure of heavy clay soils and also buffers the soil pH.
